What is Self-Care?

What is self-care? I guess that depends on who you ask. For me, self-care is taking time out for yourself to relax and do the things you enjoy and sometimes ALONE. Things that are stress free and leaves you feeling fulfilled and relaxed. Self-care is something I have always struggled with, but let me tell you.......I'm getting better at it!
Within the past two weeks, I have enjoyed reflexology twice and also a full body massage! That full body massage was LIFE! It was my first time, but won't be my last. If you haven't had the pleasure of experiencing one, please get there as soon as you can! You will love it!
We all know that stress can cause several health issues, including anxiety, depression, strokes, and the worst of them all.....death. So sad, but so true! And a lot of us aren't good at handling stress and this can be a huge issue. So let's explore some ways of relieving stress around the house, with little to no cost involved.
1. Sitting outside on a sunny day, enjoying the fresh air!
This is definitely a favorite of mine! I find so much peace, when sitting outside during the day, enjoying the sun and fresh air.....ALONE! No talking. Maybe reading or working on something that I need to accomplish. This also helps me focus!
2. Going for a walk in the neighborhood!
Similar to #1, but with exercising! Let me be honest....I don't do this much, but when I do, I feel so relaxed and rejuvenated. Put a little jog into it or walk in a fast pace, enjoy a hot shower after and get ready to enjoy a relaxing night!
Insomnia? Try this and let me know how your night went!
3. A long hot bath soak!
Ladies, this is a must at times. We take baths and showers to remain clean and fresh, of course! But, try lighting you some candles, maybe get your favorite bath soak (salts, bath bombs, etc.), your favorite wine, if you like, a book maybe and just relax. No rushing. No talking. Just soaking! You will feel refreshed!
*Now, don't forget to stand up and shower, after the soak. Some know, some don't. Just an FYI. We have to lookout for each other!
